Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your actual ‘bricks and mortar’ shops?

We have two Hall’s Firearms branches in Qld – our main base is in Townsville (North Qld) with another store in Rockhampton (Central Qld).  We also trade as O’Reilly’s Firearms in Thornbury in Melbourne’s north.  Both trading names are synonymous with firearms retail and have been trading under those names for over 40 years.  Being in different regions and with different clientele across the shooting disciplines/interests we can access a lot of different products all year round. The three stores gives us great buying power and savings that we can pass on to you the customer. It also means what may be out of stock in one store we can find in another.

What is the easiest way to shop with you?

Depends on what you are wanting – if you’ve done your research and know what you want then the website is a very convenient option. We find though that most of our customers are keen to chat with our staff about what might suit their interests and price point best or just to  find out more about new products and they prefer to phone or email us for some advice and a quote.

We pride ourselves on old fashioned customized service so  if you’re in town and have time then we welcome you in store to discuss your needs and browse our products in air-conditioned comfort.  All our stores are on main roads in convenient locations for the out of town visitors.

Why do prices differ between the website and in store?

Products available for purchase  online will generally have a lower price point than products in store.  The capsule range we advertise for purchase online are the products we know we can offer at the lowest price. The costs associated with an online purchase are lower than instore.  There are however no provisions for layby on the website whereas in store you can package up a deal and pay off over time which gives flexibility in pricing.

Our prices do fluctuate based on exchange rates and availability.  We purchase from Australian wholesalers that are at the mercy of the exchange rates and the world market.  As retailers we don’t have a lot of room to move on some products as margins are often very tight.

We reserve the right to change prices instore and online at short notice.

Do you advertise special deals and new products on social media?

Yes we are very active on Facebook with our Hall’s Firearms page, O’Reilly’s Firearms page and also a Hall’s Firearms Ads and Promotions group. We will be using blogs and Instagram as well to spread the word on specials, new products and other things of interest to our customers.

Do you offer discounts for large quantity?

Yes, you will note we do have bulk pricing on most ammunition. If it isn’t specifically listed just ask us.

Why does the NIOA product tab direct to a third-party website?

Nioa are one of our suppliers that have set up their own online platform that we tag onto. Orders placed on the Nioa platform are separate from Halls-O’Reillys orders and will be dispatched separately.

Why can’t I put a firearm or ammunition in my online basket?

Whilst we advertise firearms and ammo on our website we do not allow online purchases of restricted items at this stage.  Just click on the ‘enquire now’ button or phone us and we will happily handle all the licensing checks etc  This way we can be sure you have the right licences for your state of residence and save us all  heartache down the track.

When you are finalising your purchase of a firearm or ammo we will be able to send the items as per the legal requirements.  If you reside outside the state of Qld or Victoria we are required to send the firearm to a dealer near you.  You can nominate this dealer at the time of purchase. You will then follow the due process for your state.

Ammunition and primers are considered Dangerous Goods and therefore require transporting by a freight company with a DG licence – DG is generally quite expensive so you are better off buying in bulk than just a few packets .  We can arrange a quote for you over the phone or in store.

If you reside in Western Australia then firearms/ammo/primers cannot be purchased from us – we can mail accessories only.
